Last day of this confusing hell week! WHY is it so insanely busy??? I'm gonna make it, though! It started to rain a bit on my way here. Almost all of the snow is gone. We're all gonna make it.

13. Who in Your Life Introduces You to New Music?

MOSTLY it's some fuckass website feeding me a list of 1001 albums, but also podcasts and the radio and whatever remnants of the old blogosphere are still left standing. Fluxblog has a newsletter now! And did you know most decent/interesting radio stations have apps these days? And of course, I'm hardly immune to the charms of the Spotify algorithm; it does occasionally surface decent stuff amidst all the slop, even if my listening habits make it hard for it to get a handle on what I'm actually into. Also Hangman Page, for some reason???

work still busy, why work busy? :(

already almost lunch time, the time when I go sit in the lunch room and if I'm really lucky nobody bothers me for an hour straight

back now

still busy

urge to get home and just play some random game until the morning is rising

ONE MORE DAY.

12. Do/Did You Collect Anything?

Sure! Pokemon cards, Criterion disks, unplayed Steam games, regrets. Lots of things!

Happy Easter, it fucking snowed again. I am ignoring WrestleMania after the big WWE 'we love rapists and our president' whirlwind press blitz of the last few days served as the last five nails in the coffin of my being able to consume their content without getting overwhelmed by moral ick. They're already back on their monopoly kick what with buying out AAA, hopefully they don't scoop up GCW, too, like it really seems they might; Big Gay Brunch and the Clusterfuck were the only things to make last night palatable, wrestling-wise.

Actually got a decent night's sleep, having had one of my rare crash nights after eating way too much Indian food. My stomach's bothering me today, though. Work remains crazy, and I really wish I could celebrate 4/20 properly this year to offset it. Will have to settle for making perogies and watching an episode of Twin Peaks and reminding myself that I've only got two more days of work before my week off and random trip to Edmonton to go watch David Lynch movies. And then come back to work just in time for month end, I guess. Gross.

I have somehow been here for four hours already. I have accomplished... nothing. Okay, time to try not being a lump for a little while.

11. Have You Ever Experienced Food Insecurity?

I don't think so? It's tough to say, because we were very poor when I was a kid, but my mom did a pretty good job of shielding me from the worst of it. I ate a lot of shitty food, but I'm pretty sure we never went hungry.

Cracking open The Count of Monte Cristo on a lovely Saturday morning at work, as one does. My day off for Jesus was very nice; lunch with the family followed by Sinners, which is, in fact, my favourite movie of the year to date, followed by a trip to Mac Island to do some voting and then McDonald's and an episode of Dark Side of the Ring before toddling off to bed and staying up way too late anyway. And now it's the weekend! Hopefully it'll be a chill one.

10. What Have You Made Yourself?

I'M TRYING TO WRITE AGAIN, LEAVE ME ALONE.

Remember two years ago, when Hangman stuck a crown of thorns on Adam Cole's head in a Texas Death Match on Good Friday? lol that ruled

Maundy Thursday! I stayed up too late again watching more Sakura Genesis, but I've only got the main event left! Yota Tsuji pulling out twin magic at the most random, unexpected times is so goddamn funny to me. Also finished Daredevil: Born Again and have a surprising amount of feelings about it:

i guess i'll put a spoiler cut here for a couple things )

Off tomorrow because Easter, which I completely forgot about and am very grateful for (anything to break up the work week, man). Going to have lunch with my grandmother and then go see Sinners. For Jesus.

TV:

Voyager

203 Projections: Computer, delete Paris. :D Didn't quite buy into the central premise of this episode, sad2say, it was just kinda goofy (Doctor is human and Voyager is holographic? OR IS HE?!)

I started watching Bluey in Polish and it is really actually charming. The children are right.

Games:

I started a wilderness farm in Stardew Valley! I really like it! But I also think I'm done now (she says, for the third week in a row)

Podcasts & Music:

Basically only listening to the Used or Starset, depending on which wip I'm pretending to work on.

Books: I went and did a reread of Murderbot like many other people seem to be doing right now! :D Very excited about the show. OF COURSE it's going up when Kelly (who also loves Murderbot) is going away so now I have a very serious ethical conundrum on my hands!!!! Got the sequel to six of crows from the library so I have 3 weeks to get r dun

Back to work, it's snowing, and CDK is down across North America. Great. Just awesome. It's only Wednesday and my eyes already hurt, but that probably has more to do with the part where I stayed up until one in the morning watching the first half of Sakura Genesis (only ten days late, whatever). I am very sad about El Phantasmo and the War Dogs both losing their title matches, even if I expected it (I love Great-O-Khan, too, so I can't be MAD about the TV title changing hands, and Sanada joining House of Torture was somehow the only thing I was spoiled for, so as soon as his match was the opener I just assumed he'd cost them the trios title BUT HE STILL DIDN'T HAVE TO DO MY MAN DRILLA LIKE THAT).

I wish I was still at home with my new keyboard, forever.

8. What Childhood Rules Did You Break?

If you're breaking them all the time, then they're not very good rules, are they? I didn't really have many to begin with, I was just... good, idk. I guess I watched Power Rangers sometimes when my mom didn't want me to?

Oh, good, CDK is back online. I can work again. :(

Back to work tomorrow. Going to do a big ol' nonogram and try to motivate myself to change the bedsheets and actually finish my laundry so I have something to wear. Maybe. We'll see. Motivation is tough to scrape together at the moment.

Album #469/1001: Sugar - Copper Blue )

I have finished my nonogram. It was a picture of a fat business pigeon. If I can get my bed stripped and go check the mail, I will reward myself with El Desperado vs. Clark Connors at Jr. Genesis. Baby rhino's first deathmatch!! I can do this!!!

I am head over heels in love with my new keyboard; I'd been struggling along with a really low-profile lightweight job since I rearranged my bedroom last year and I genuinely had such a hard time with it and was not getting any better, and now typing is an absolute dream. Easily the best purchase I've made in a minute. I was obviously being facetious when I said it would help with my writer's block, but like... MAN, MAYBE??? Typing is such a joy now, I want any excuse to do more of it!

Like this entry! I've got nothing going on. I'm just watching one of the Road to Sakura Genesis shows as the sun goes down. There are just a few stray patches of snow left here and there, and I didn't even need a jacket to go check the mail earlier. Spring may be disgusting, but at least it's finally here. I think working over the weekend broke my wiring a bit, between my body and my subconscious, something in here just doesn't understand whether it's my week off or my week on or what, so I just feel kinda weird. At least I have one more day to chill and recover before going back for realsies. I should take a bath tonight now that my period is over.

Twelve more hours of sitting around and getting paid extra for it, I've just gotta keep reminding myself of all the unsustainably frivolous spending I've been doing of late to make it worth it. I'll have the night to myself afterward and then two more days of rest and relaxation and maybe a couple of Sakura Genesis shows before getting back to the grind for realsies. That's not so bad! Right??? It does not help that I couldn't get to sleep last night for the life of me. I'm all outta wack.

New keyboard came in. It's a nice one, even if the switches I wanted cost an extra sixty bucks in import fees for some reason so I had to settle for the Marble Whites. Surely THAT will help me overcome my writer's block!

Ran out of Anne of Green Gables books (unless anyone has copies of Before Green Gables and The Blythes are Quoted that they want to send me, all the other ones were public domain and easy to find lol), so I'm reading Emily of New Moon at work as a sort of wholesome, PEI-based methadone.

The radio has reminded me that I really need to sit down with the new Lady Gaga album already.

Hotel for Edmonton has been booked and I was able to pay for the whole thing with points, so that's another burden dodged, even if I didn't spend enough to get my $100 travel voucher for the year. All the more reason to find my DAMN PASSPORT.

7. What Are Your Best Sleepover Memories?

Nothing really concrete, it's all just a sort of gently nostalgic slurry of SNES games and Beanie Babies and bunk beds and overprotective parents getting mad at me for reading too-scary stories. I want to go back. Getting back into collecting Pokemon cards has helped.

At work on my week off like a SUCKER. My eyes hurt, and I'm taking it EASY. The way I see it, the first four hours are free parking, since I would just be sleeping, anyway. After that, I will read for a little while and maybe break my diet to order something tasty. Then I can fuck around with Notion for the last third of the day and book a hotel room for my Lynch weekend, hopefully not feel like it was all a total waste of my time (money or not, having a job is a waste of time, idgaf), and then do it all again tomorrow! Like a SUCKER.

It's chilly and rainy outside, but I wore a long-sleeved shirt to work so am stubbornly refusing to bust out a sweater as well.

The Amateur tonight. It looks generic as fuck and it's on super late and is like two hours long, but we takes what we can gets. NEED MOOBIE.

6. Do You See Great Disparities of Wealth in Your Community?

Not since they bulldozed the tent city! Though I do still get to spend my days serving a whole lot of people who make many times as much money as I do.

Completely wasted the day, probably because I'm going in to work tomorrow and the futility of life in general is just pressing in all around me as a result. At least at time-and-a-half, I'll be making a decent wage for a change, and we'll go see a movie afterward, so it shouldn't be too soul-crushing. It'll definitely make my next proper set that much more unbearable, however.

Album #467/1001: ABC - The Lexicon of Love )

I should do my nails tonight. Head into the battle well-armed.

I don't feel like fucking around with all the photos in my food post so I'm posting these misc thoughts instead! A week or two ago Liam heard a little scritchy scratch when he was in his bathroom and opened the window to THIS GUY:

(the guy is a vole)

Look at this lil chonk! Tiny ears! Do not want him in my house! All the screens in our window wells (and our neighbours') are torn to shit from rodents. They really need lil ladders to get out of there - we found a toad in there before. I put a board from the windowsill to the top of the well and came back in ten minutes and he was gone. Cute af though. Idk what to do about the screen problems, though. I don't really want to open the downstairs windows with holey screens.

In bird news,

A lady downy woodpecker I saw yesterday! We get a lot of woodpeckers here, with a little dead tree lot behind us. Merlin (the app) said there was a red-bellied as well, but I never saw it. I haven't managed a picture of one of them yet! This morning I woke up to a flicker, but it flew off before I got out the binoculars. I neeeeeeed a flicker picture πŸ₯ΊπŸ™

This week is going to fly by, even before you bring the fact that I'm working over the weekend into it. My period is kicking my ass, and I had to finally give in and turn on the air conditioning because it's begun to hit double digits outside and the sun is turning my bedroom into a greenhouse. Gonna finally finish up last month's New Japan Cup tonight; Shota vs. Finlay is certainly one of the finals of all time, I suppose.

Hopefully a run will sort me out. Once things cool down just a bit more, lest I die.

I did not break up with Stardew Valley 🫣🫣🫣

Books:

I did break up with the Reappearance of Rachel Price. I wanted to read this book since I saw it on a kobo sale and me and the library kept sending it back and forth forever, but the premise sounded fun: 18 yo girl grown up under the mystery of her mother's disappearance (when she was 2) and all that comes with that (crime podcasts, her dad being charged with murder, town gossip, emotional problems), in the middle of filming a documentary with her family when her mother suddenly reappears. I got to her mother reappearing and a bit after but I just had to accept that I don't read mysteries because I really just don't like mysteries! I want to shake all the characters and be like JUST BE STRAIGHT WITH ME >:( I have no patience for figuring shit out or red herrings or any of that. Unless it's a mystery in a sci-fi book or a fantasy book and I have worldbuilding to contemplate while I ignore that mystery, bleh
