On Writing

Mind, I have not been writing anything original which I can get published someday but my goal for the year was to write 100k words over the course of 2012 on various snippets of fanfic and the like. I have been doing pretty well. I don't write EVERY day but when I do write, I tend to write nice chunks of work, so I'm pleased.



Those haven't been all on one fic, alas, but I think that's pretty good for January and one day of February! I just signed up for [community profile] scifibigbang so that'll be adding to my wordcount for the year as well.

That is awesome! :O

I am quite an erratic writer - feast or famine, you know how it is - but one way or another I squeaked out 80k last year. Not sure I can beat that this year, but you never know!

And yeah, I will go ages and not write anything and then be super productive like I have been the last month. I wish I could do it all on ONE piece, I have a couple WIPs that are lengthy and I want to finish, but alas, no.

I have long accepted the fact that my brain just does not have novel scope, but my upper limit does seem to go up a bit year on year; I finished my first 25k+ fic last year, and I'm pretty sure the one I'm working on right now is going to end up longer than that, if I can see it through. But yeah, I have productive months and dead months. Life goes on, ideas come and go, and every one that gets developed lets one go 'fuck yeah I did that.'

Lol, it's been sending everything else from my RP journals fine and I just got this one, so, who knows?

And yeah, it's just such a sense of accomplishment to look back on that long fic and say wow, I did it.
