So, I'm reading The Mayfair Moon by JA Redmerski, which eibbil_libbie graciously let me borrow and while I like it so far, I have one huge beef.

The first part of the book is set in Athens, GA, but the way this author describes the town, it sounds more like a place in south GA than Athens. And it bugs me. Not enough to make me quit reading, mind, but idk, could you have googled it?

The setting moved, now, and I'm starting to get into the book a little more so it was just a minor gripe.

That kind of stuff drives me NUTS. I mean, I'm writing a fic right now set in Wyoming (a place I've never been) and I can barely write it because I'm so concerned with getting the setting right.

The book itself I like. I think I'm about 150 pages in and I want to smack the sister. The only characters I really like are Zia and Harry, oddly.

I think we're a lot alike that way. I usually write with google maps open if its not set someplace I've lived or someplace I've invented.

Yeah. Her sister gives off a serious reach-through-the-kindle-and-smack vibe.

I love Zia to bits.

Honestly the book should be about Zia! This always happens to me - I get more interested in the side characters than the main ones.
