the state of me

Okay. Some of you have been following my little LJ drama involving my hospitalization and whatnot. Here's the deal:

7/17/08 6:30 AM--I wake up to go to work and notice a pimple on my jawline. Sucks to be me, but whatever. It's normal enough.

7/17/08 10:00 AM--The pimple has swollen to the size of a quarter and is red and inflamed. It feels hot to the touch. I am mildly concerned and consider making an appointment to see my doctor that afternoon after work.

7/17/08 12:30 PM--I'm dizzy, have the shakes and feel generally malaised. I check my temperature and have a low grade fever. I don't want to miss work so I decide to stick it out until I see Dr. Williamson.

7/17/08 3:00 PM--I'm vomiting, dizzy, chills, sweats and seriously considering finding Cheryl and leaving work early. I don't.

7/17/08 5:15 PM--I get called back at Dr. Williamson's office. He takes a look at my festering boil and draws a culture. He doesn't like my symptoms and orders a CBC (drawn at his office). He believes I have MRSA and writes me scripts for Bactrim and Rifampin. He also gives me an injection of Roceferin (1G)

7/17/08 7:30 PM--I start vomiting again, severely. I'm not holding down water.

7/17/08 10:15 PM--I am still vomiting. Kelly takes me to the ER.

7/17/08 11:30 PM--I'm in a bed in the ER. ER doc orders Vancomycin. I'm on Vancomycin for one hour before my body develops an allergy to it and I start breaking out into hives and can't breathe. I'm removed from Vancomycin and given Zyvox. I'm released at 4:30 AM with instructions to take my regular antibiotics at 3:00 PM.

7/18/08 10:00 PM--I'm steadily declining again. Against better judgment, we go to see The Dark Knight since I'd bought tickets online.

7/19/08 2:00 AM--I'm back in the ER. The doctor assigned to me doesn't read the chart or the concerns that it's MRSA. Tells me I have an infected bug bite, gives me anti-emetics, another gram of Roceferin and wants to discharge me with a script for Augmentin. This doctor says all of my labs were normal. I insist on another doctor.

7/19/08 5:00 AM--Dr. Malykov examines me and takes a full history. Is concerned at the amount of heavy antibiotics I received and that I wasn't getting better. Suspects I'm septic and admits me.

7/19/08 PM--My nurse comes by to go over my labs. She informs me that my neutrophils, eosinophils and granulocytes were elevated outside of the normal range. I ask which labs these are and she informs me that they're the CBC drawn by the ER on 7/18. The original ER doctor has lied to me about my labs and tried to send me home when I was septic. I am not pleased.

7/19/08-7/20/08--I'm on a steady drip of Cleocin for the infection and saline and glucose for severe dehydration. My kidneys start to function again.

7/20/08--Discharged, with instructions to follow up with Dr. Williamson. The on-call doctor and myself argue about when I'm going back to work (she wants Wednesday, I want today. We settle on Tuesday.)

7/21/08--Wake up with earache and sore throat. Steady diarrhea. Go to see Dr. Williamson. He has concerns I have opportunistic infections from the massive immune episode I'm having. Gives me another injection of an antibiotic (normal penicillin this time) and instructs me to follow up with the Cleocin as directed. Is concerned about C. difficile infection due to my massive antibiotic treatments. Ordered tests for that. Requests I come back on Friday for a follow-up to see if I can go back to work. He advises he'd rather I stay out until my antibiotic course is complete.

Dr. Williamson has severe concerns about my immune system, namely, a possible autoimmune disease or some type of cancer. I got sick and within 24 hours was septic. This is not normal by any means. I'm isolated in our spare bedroom until we can bleach and purge everything in my apartment.

Jesus Christ, hon. Well, for starters, I'm glad you're better. Someone fire that doctor -- stat. Geeze. So, I'm confused about the MRSA? Is this something you just got? Or already had? Or?

Okay. I wasn't sure if it was something that was just... dormant and it flairs up, or a brand new ailment. How are you doing now, fyi?

I don't know why I added the FYI to that. It doesn't make any sense. >.>
